In 2021 I was invited to be one of the volunteer artists for the Santa Fe Animal Shelter’s annual art initiative, Driving Change Through Art. It was so fun and an honor to paint a mural of this cutie to help out the animals and the shelter. Enjoyable…. heartwarming...

As I write this, the mural has been part of the year long outdoor exhibit at the shelter. But the time has come and the donors/commissioners of the piece, will be able to take their artwork home soon now!

I hope they enjoy the piece.

Funny inside story: The piece initially was going to be a nod to the old cartoon, Underdog. I was going to add a blue cape, and as you see George here has his initial displayed just like underdog did, though I took artistic liberty to make it gray instead of white.

I ended up not adding the cape because the gradiation of the background colors was looking well, kind of beautiful and I didn’t want to mess that up. But also, I think I chickened out a little.
